Sunday March 14 at One Trick Pony, hear the Hothouse Flowers live, a world-renowned band hailing from Ireland that combines traditional Irish music with influences from soul, gospel and rock.
Sparks Media joins forces with new organization Soulseedz to present Irish rock band Hothouse Flowers in a special intimate benefit event on Sunday March 14 beginning at 7pm at One Trick Pony in downtown Grand Rapids.
Ireland's Hothouse Flowers made a name for itself during the late '80s
and early '90s with a passionate, bombastic fusion of rock & roll
combined with the root sounds of Irish folk, American gospel and soul.
The band got its start when a group of high school friends led by
Fiachna O'Braonain (guitar) and Liam O'Maonlai (vocals and keyboards)
began busking on the streets of Dublin. After winning the Street
Entertainers of the Year award in 1985 the group received a glowing
write-up in Rolling Stone. U2's Bono saw them performing on a
late-night television show and he subsequently produced a single that
was released on U2's record label, Mother/ As a result of the success
of that single the group signed a contract with PolyGram Records.

Hothouse Flowers has released 6 albums to date. Their latest release, Into the Heart, reaffirms and expands on the bands gut-level, passionate, soulful approach to songwriting and performing.
Hothouse Flowers, with opening act Ralston Bowles, perform in concert at One Trick Pony, 136 East Fulton in downtown Grand Rapids, on Sunday March 14 beginning at 7pm. Doors open at 5:00pm.
